Legal Information & Policies

Important information about website use, accessibility, donations, media, electronic communications, and copyright.

Last updated: September 24, 2026

The official legal name of the organization operating this website is Sikh Cultural Society of Metropolitan Windsor (the Society). Gurdwara Khalsa Parkash Windsor is the commonly used name for the Gurdwara operated by the Society, not a separate legal organization. These policies apply to this website and provide general information, not legal advice.

For details about personal information, read our Privacy Policy.

Website Terms of Use & Disclaimer

By using this website, you agree to use it lawfully and respectfully. Its content supports community information and does not replace professional legal, financial, medical, counselling, or other advice.

  • Programme times, events, services, livestreams, announcements, and other content may change, be delayed, or be unavailable. Confirm time-sensitive information with the Gurdwara.
  • Gurbani, translations, historical summaries, and educational materials are provided for learning and general reference. Consult recognized sources or qualified teachers where interpretation matters.
  • Do not interfere with the website, attempt unauthorized access, submit unlawful or harmful material, impersonate another person, or misuse forms and contact features.
  • Links and embedded content from YouTube, Google, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, financial institutions, and other services are provided for convenience. Those independent services control their own content, availability, and policies.
  • To the extent permitted by law, the Gurdwara is not responsible for loss resulting from reliance on website information, service interruption, external websites, or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada. We may update them when the website, services, or legal requirements change.

Accessibility Policy & Statement

We are committed to welcoming people with disabilities and identifying, preventing, and removing accessibility barriers in a manner consistent with Ontario accessibility requirements.

  • We aim to provide information and services in ways that respect dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity.
  • We welcome service animals, support persons, and assistive devices as permitted by law and applicable safety requirements.
  • If website content, a document, programme, or service creates a barrier, contact us. We will work with you to provide an accessible format, communication support, or reasonable alternative.
  • Accessibility feedback may be submitted through the Contact Us page, by email, phone, or in person. Please describe the barrier and the support requested; feedback will be reviewed respectfully.
  • Temporary service disruptions affecting accessible facilities or services will be communicated where reasonably possible.
  • Accessibility policies and available public information can be provided in an accessible format upon request.

Donations & Tax Receipts

Donations support the Gurdwara’s religious, community, educational, and charitable activities. A donation is voluntary and does not purchase preferential access to programmes, services, or decision-making.

  • A tax receipt may be issued only when the gift and donor information meet Canada Revenue Agency requirements. Not every payment, fee, purchase, sponsorship, or contribution qualifies.
  • Donors requesting a receipt must provide accurate information. Receipts are issued by the responsible registered organization, not automatically by this website or a financial institution.
  • If a donor receives an advantage or benefit, only the eligible portion of the gift may be receiptable under applicable rules.
  • Donations are normally final. Contact us promptly about a duplicate transaction, processing error, unauthorized payment, or another exceptional circumstance. Any correction or refund is subject to legal, accounting, and payment-processing requirements.
  • The website does not provide tax advice. Donors should consult the Canada Revenue Agency or a qualified adviser about their circumstances.

Photography, Video & Children’s Media

Photographs, audio, and video may be created during public religious services, celebrations, and community events to document and share community life. We take additional care with identifiable children.

  • Khalsa School registration does not by itself give permission to publish an identifiable child’s photograph or recording. Separate parent or guardian permission is required where applicable.
  • Parents and guardians should not submit or publish images of children other than their own without appropriate permission.
  • Tell an organizer if you do not wish to be photographed where a practical opt-out is available. Livestreamed or wide public-event scenes may not allow complete exclusion.
  • To request review or removal of an identifiable image controlled by the Gurdwara, contact us with enough information to locate it. We will assess the request reasonably, subject to legal, safety, archival, and record-keeping needs.
  • Media already downloaded, shared, reposted, or controlled by an external platform may remain outside our control.

Email & Electronic Communications

We may send requested newsletters, announcements, reminders, programme information, registration messages, or administrative communications in accordance with applicable Canadian requirements.

  • Where consent is required, we will request it clearly and keep appropriate records. Consent for optional promotional messages is not a condition of receiving unrelated services.
  • Messages will identify the sender and provide contact information as required. Optional messages will include a practical unsubscribe method.
  • Unsubscribe requests will be processed within the period required by law. Necessary transactional, safety, registration, or service messages may still be sent when appropriate.
  • Do not forward private school, registration, volunteer, or administrative messages to public groups without permission.
  • Third-party email, messaging, and social platforms process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
