Windsor Nagar Kirtan Archive
A celebration of Khalsa Day and Vaisakhi that brought Sikh and wider community members together in downtown Windsor through Nagar Kirtan, Gatka and Langar.

The Windsor Khalsa Day Nagar Kirtan was held on May 20, 2018 at Riverfront Festival Plaza. SikhNet and Indo-Canadian Voice both report that more than 10,000 people attended.
The Sikh Cultural Society of Metropolitan Windsor organized the event with support from various Sikh organizations. Sikhs from Ontario and the United States joined members of other faith communities, Indigenous representatives, the Mayor, MPs, MPPs and City Councillors.
The opening included a prayer and a land acknowledgement by Caldwell First Nation Chief Mary Duckworth, recognizing Indigenous participation.

The 2018 celebration reached beyond the Sikh community, bringing together people of different faiths, Indigenous representatives and local leaders. Its opening prayer and land acknowledgement by Caldwell First Nation Chief Mary Duckworth, alongside Langar and humanitarian service, highlight the Society’s community role.
